Weekly Specials Schedule Poster

Keeping track of specials and specials’ times proves to be tricky for me. To be honest, tracking time just really isn’t my thing. Yet, the rest of the world operates by a clock and I do crave the peace and quiet of prep times to recollect my thoughts, dig into a planning session or prep some materials… So needless to say, it’s important to me to get them to their specials on time. Or well, gosh-darn-skippy close to it.

Since our specials schedule changes every year, I’ve found it harder to make the times and days of the week memorable in my mind. Or, I like to think that I’m keeping the extra mental space clear for remembering things that really matter. I simply live by this specials schedule poster that I update every year and post underneath my classroom clock.

It’s two 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper taped together to create the poster. I made the paper horizontal in order to get the times large enough so that they are visible from across the room. The icons on the poster match our daily classroom schedule – which really helps out when I’m setting up our daily agenda too.

I can also print a mini-version of this to place into my substitute folder and it’s good to go. It has a chevron background since I’m using it around the classroom as an accent on my classroom mantra, our cupboards and our hand washing signs. I picked colors that match the color scheme too.

Have any other tips to help keep track of specials?? Or get kids to specials on time? Other than having alarms on my cell phone for each day {which I do}, I’m always up for new ideas! If you like what I do here on KindergartenWorks, then be sure to subscribe today. I look forward to sharing ideas with you weekly.
