{Kindergarten Calendar Pack} it’s here and it’s HUGE!

I’m not sure how else to start off by describing our latest product other than huge. It’s our kindergarten calendar pack. I don’t mean to say that to scare anyone off, but it is unlike anything else I’ve created or know of to be out there in the teaching world. And, I’m even talking about in the published teaching world. This is why I made it! Now the hard part… how to describe it. It is the calendar pack that brings all of the pieces together for your classroom. I know it did for mine. Did you read our post re.spon.si.bil.it.y?

This is a great place to start understanding why I put together the pieces in the way that I did, but the short version is I needed calendar pieces that translated outside the bulletin board borders. I like things to have continuity for my young, developing readers and keeping things to look the same has played a huge role in the success of things running smoother in our classroom.

So I need our calendar headers

to match our months of the year,

to match our daily folder monthly calendars,

to match our Common Core standards-based book logs,

and anything else that might help keep me more organized!

And what’s more – I need to be able to change pieces on my calendar to match what’s happening each month. That’s something we all do, right? But I want this reflected in the calendars that my students have so that they finally stop asking, “Is our field trip tomorrow?” when it’s still three weeks out. I want them to have exactly the same pictures on their calendars. But, I’ve never come across a calendar set in the store that also came with a matching set of clipart to create my student (and helpful to parent) calendars. Have you?

My parents love that my kinders use these calendars almost like planners and can “read” them long before they can read them and know what’s happening in the classroom and what is to come. Kinders love to know what to expect, routines and this one piece of the pack has been such a benefit to me and my kinders.

Now, I will tell you that it takes a bit of time (and modeled practice) to learn how to find the right day (matching to our class calendar) to color in their behavior, but it quickly becomes routine.

So, how huge? With 165 pages of printed material to use year after year and 104 pieces of clipart to create your student calendars to match your class one, huge seems like a good thing.

  1. Hey Leslie & All! This calendar pack is worth EVERY PENNY! I loved using it last year and will use it again this year. I’m trying to figure out where in the world i ordered it from though because I can’t find it in my Teachers Notebook account. Did you have a buy direct from you option at one point?
    Thanks!

  3. I love this site! I am so happy that you share your creative ideas for FREE! I am looking forward to starting my own blog this summer. We currently use a special folder for KEEP at HOME and RETURN to SCHO, each pocket is labeled. But, you have taken this to the next level. I am so tired of parents who don’t take repsonsibility! It makes my job so much harder when I have to constantly stay on them to return $, permissions slips, etc. on time. I am hoping this will help. Sorry to vent, it’s been a loooooong week!

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Penken2010. I still have to print multiple copies of permission slips because they get “lost” along the way, or somehow end up on the floor when all kinders have left my room, but the workload has definitely gone down! Its a lot of training for my kinders at the beginning, but it does pay out in the long run! Hope your next week isn’t as crazy!

  4. Great ideas! I love the guided reading blog. I’m just bummed it’s just for kindergarten. I’m implementing something similar in 6th grade. Any ideas? I feel like most of the logs and system could work minus a few pieces. I would love to see if I could get the book logs without the whole kit. Thanks!

    1. Hi guest,
I was actually considering posting those as a individual item. I currently have other projects that are taking priority over that, but if you mark our store as a “Fav” on Teachers Notebook or “follow” on Teachers Pay Teachers, you’ll be notified of whenever we post new items. (Which someday could include those separate book logs 🙂

  5. I love your read and response book logs. I was wondering if there was any way to get these without having to get the rest of the calendar stuff. I have a lot of calendar materials all ready but would LOVE to use the book logs. Thank you

  11. I absolutely need this! I am on an organization binge and this will top it all off. I think I have bought almost every other item you have produced, so this needs to be in my kinder repertoire as well. LOVE the idea! So cohesive.
