Kindergarten Common Core Assessments: the Complete Package

Kindergarten common core standards are the curriculum and map by which many kindergarten teachers are teaching their classes. I've teamed up with 2 other teachers in my district to create an assessment for every single common core standard and sub-standard. We've made it teacher friendly, kindergartner friendly and above all comprehensive. Here's how the Kindergarten Common Core Assessment Packets and Bundle works.

Don't need something comprehensive, but something to track data that is easily sharable? Check out this post on Kindergarten Common Core Reading and Math: Data Tracking and Assessments

We designed this assessing system to be one that we would use in our own classrooms and added enough explanation so that all teachers in our district could use it too. We started with the Indiana State Math and Language Arts Common Core Scope and Sequence. All standards found on the Common Core are broken down into sub-parts which are easier for a teacher to assess, track and show growth.

We put the materials into packets {and also a bundle} so that everything is all in one place for each child. For example, I can print the packets and bind them as I wish, making it flexible for my personal classroom use. It makes collecting data easier during report card time as well. We don't expect any teacher to assess every single sub-standard {and I hope your principal doesn't expect that either} but we've given you the tools and place to do so or allow you to pick and choose.

How Does it Work?

Each packet/quarter has it's own theme. This makes it fun for the kinders and easy to give instructions when I say "turn to the page with the monster..." rather then say, "turn to page 52." There is plenty of workspace for kinders to work and plenty of space for me to write my scrawly notes. {I like to write a lot} But, there are checkmarks if that simple method works for you - big time saver! {I use those too}

The biggest benefit to me as a teacher and having this bundle of assessments whether I use them all or not is that I fully understand what the bigger standards mean because these assessments help me test the sub standards and can plainly see how my kinders are progressing on their way to mastering the larger standard.

Common Core Assessment Bundle (Packets 1-4)

It is our hope that these packets and bundles would be a time-savers and helpful in guiding you as you learn what to expect with the new standards and expectations. We've also bundled the packets together to make it easier to purchase and save a few dollars!

If you'd rather see fewer standards and have a product designed to make tracking specific data easier throughout the year, then I'd highly recommend our Kindergarten Common Core Reading and Math: Data Tracking and Assessments.
